Tinubu Nominates Ikechukwu Ugwuegede as NCC Commissioner for South-East

In a move to ensure regional balance, President Bola Tinubu has nominated lawyer and politician Ikechukwu Ugwuegede as the South-East representative on the board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The nomination was announced in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. This follows recent criticism that an initial list of NCC board nominees lacked a representative from the South-East geopolitical zone.

Ugwuegede is a former Chairman of the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority and has previously contested for a House of Representatives seat.

The President has asked the Senate to confirm Ugwuegede’s nomination alongside other board members who were recently approved.
