ADC Abia Leadership Caucus Disowns Obinna Don Norman, Cites Court Injunction

UMUAHIA, ABIA STATE — The Abia State Leadership Caucus of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally disowned Don Norman Obinna, declaring that he lacks the authority to act or speak as the party’s chairman in the state .

The position was reached at a duly convened meeting held at the ADC State Secretariat in Umuahia, attended by party heavyweights including Senator Austine Akobundu (Abia Central), Hon. Uko Nkole, and Hon. Okey Igwe .

Reading the caucus’s resolution, Hon. Uko Nkole drew attention to a subsisting order of the Abia State High Court which, through an interim injunction dated December 3, 2025, restrains Obinna from parading himself or acting in any capacity as chairman of the party pending the determination of the substantive suit .

The caucus also aligned its position with the findings of the ADC South-East Zonal Disciplinary Committee report of September 25, 2025, which clarified the party’s stance on Obinna’s conduct and status .

Consequently, the leadership body described Obinna’s continued actions as “unlawful and misleading,” stressing that they amount to a violation of party discipline and contempt of a valid court order. It declared that any meetings, directives, or public engagements conducted by him in the name of the party are “null and void” .

The caucus reaffirmed Mazi Kanu O. Kanu as the Acting State Chairman of the ADC in Abia State pending the conduct of the party’s state congresses and urged the general public, security agencies, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disregard any statements or actions attributed to Obinna .
