Trump Says Iran Has Agreed to Hand Over Enriched Uranium Supply

United States President Donald Trump has announced that Iran has agreed to hand over its stockpile of enriched uranium, describing the move as a major breakthrough in peace negotiations between the two countries .

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Thursday, Trump said the US and Iran were “very close” to a peace deal following six weeks of conflict that began on February 28, 2026 . The US leader used his characteristic term for the enriched uranium stockpile, stating, “They’ve agreed to give us back the nuclear dust” .

“There’s a very good chance we’re going to make a deal,” Trump added, noting that Tehran had become more flexible in negotiations . The president credited Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir for their role in brokering the talks, adding that he would consider traveling to Islamabad to sign any final agreement .

Trump has insisted that any deal must permanently bar Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons—the stated justification for launching the war . The proposed agreement could include Iran giving up nuclear ambitions, handing over nuclear material, ensuring free oil passage, and reopening the Strait of Hormuz .

However, Tehran has not publicly confirmed the concessions outlined by Trump . An Iranian official previously told USA TODAY that there was “no scenario” where Iran would entirely give up enriching uranium . The Iranian foreign ministry has insisted that Iran’s right to enrich uranium is “indisputable,” though enrichment levels are “negotiable” .

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned that if “Iran chooses poorly, then they will have a blockade and bombs dropping on infrastructure, power and energy” .
