Why APC Should Consider Atuma for Abia Central Senate Ticket – A Strategic Case

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a strategic case has emerged within the All Progressives Congress (APC) urging the party to consider Rt. Hon. Emeka Atuma as its candidate for the Abia Central Senatorial seat.

Proponents argue that Atuma’s legislative experience as a former House of Representatives member (Ikwuano/Umuahia, 2003–2007) and Chairman of the House Committee on Enviroment and Ecology was used to engage the people recover lost communities that was ravaged by gully Erosion.

Beyond his credentials, Atuma has cultivated grassroots relationships across Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South, engaging traditional institutions, youth groups, and market stakeholders. This network, combined with his demonstrated loyalty to the APC since aligning with the party, could enhance the party’s competitiveness in the zone.

His campaign vision focuses on infrastructure—completing federal roads like Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene—agricultural development with expanded irrigation, and youth empowerment through skills hubs and federal job access.

Atuma’s readiness for a six-LGA campaign, plus his policy direction, positions him as a credible option. As the APC deliberates, prioritizing candidates who blend competence with broad appeal will be key to victory in Abia Central.
