Panic has gripped Numan town in Adamawa State following a massive fire outbreak caused by a transformer explosion at the JEZCO filling station on Friday .
Eyewitnesses report that the transformer burst into flames, igniting a shop within the filling station premises. The fire quickly spread, engulfing the station and nearby structures. “Everywhere is on fire. Jesus have mercy!” a resident exclaimed in a viral video capturing the raging inferno .
The explosion and subsequent fire have raised fears of further escalation, with thick black smoke billowing into the sky. Emergency responders are currently at the scene battling the blaze.
Authorities are yet to confirm any casualties or the extent of property damage as efforts to contain the fire continue. The cause of the transformer explosion is still unknown.
