: FCT Minister Receives Ambassadors Designate, Promises Land Allocation for Permanent Residences in Abuja

The FCT Minister has received newly appointed Nigerian Ambassadors and High Commissioners Designate who paid a courtesy visit to his office, with the delegation led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed.

In a significant presidential directive disclosed during the visit, the Minister announced that lands will be allocated to the Ambassadors and High Commissioners Designate in the nation’s capital, Abuja. The move, directed by President Bola Tinubu, is designed to provide Nigeria’s envoys with permanent residences, ensuring they have a home to return to during official briefings and upon completion of their service abroad.

Beyond the welfare announcement, the Minister charged the diplomats to be the eyes and ears of Nigeria during their national assignments, stressing that their character, conduct, and quality of representation abroad are critical to how the international community perceives the country.

The envoys were also specifically urged to actively counter growing misinformation surrounding Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly the narrative suggesting that the country is drifting toward a one-party state.

The Minister was emphatic on this point, stating clearly that President Tinubu has no intention of turning Nigeria into a one-party state, adding that the internal crisis of any political party should not be mistaken for a deliberate government agenda to dominate the nation’s political space.

The newly appointed diplomats are expected to take up their respective postings in the coming weeks as Nigeria continues to strengthen its foreign policy engagements globally.
