Deputy Speaker’s Wife, Dr. Ezinne Benjamin-Kalu, Assumes ABSUTH Board Chairmanship, Vows Accountability and Transformation

Dr. Mrs. Ezinne Benjamin-Kalu, wife of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has been inaugurated as Chairman of the Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) Management Board, describing the occasion as a moment of profound honour, responsibility, and deep personal gratitude.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Benjamin-Kalu expressed heartfelt appreciation to Abia State Governor Alex Otti for reposing such significant trust in her and other newly inaugurated board members across the state’s parastatals.

She made clear that the appointment carries weight far beyond ceremony.

“Public service at this level is not merely ceremonial. It is a call to duty, sacrifice, accountability, and results,” she stated firmly, adding that the Governor’s confidence in the board would not be taken lightly.

Dr. Benjamin-Kalu pledged to align the ABSUTH board’s work with Governor Otti’s broader vision of transforming Abia State’s public institutions, assuring residents of transparent and purposeful governance at the hospital.

Her inauguration signals a renewed push by the Otti administration to strengthen oversight across all state-owned institutions.
