Abuja, Nigeria – Former Edo State Governor and APC stalwart, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has called for the immediate resignation of Senate President Godswill Akpabio over alleged manipulation of the Senate Standing Orders.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Oshiomhole accused Akpabio of unilaterally altering legislative procedures to consolidate power, describing the act as a “constitutional affront.”
“You cannot be a judge in your own cause. You have to resign,” Oshiomhole fumed. “Changing the Senate Standing Orders without due process undermines our democracy.”
The heated criticism follows growing discontent among lawmakers who claim the new orders were rushed through without required majority input. Oshiomhole insisted that no single individual has the authority to amend the rules governing the Red Chamber.
Akpabio is yet to officially respond, but his media aide described Oshiomhole’s outburst as “theatrics.” Political analysts warn the rift could deepen executive-legislative tensions.
