Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has broken his silence over the decision of former Rivers State Governor and erstwhile Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) — revealing that Amaechi never consulted him before making the surprise political move.
Speaking candidly, Wike described Amaechi as his “brother,” but expressed mild surprise that such a significant political decision was taken without any prior conversation between them.
“Amaechi is my brother, but he did not call me before joining ADC,” Wike stated, in remarks that have since sparked widespread reactions across Nigeria’s political circles.
The disclosure has raised fresh questions about the state of their relationship, which has been one of the most watched political dynamics in Rivers State and indeed southern Nigeria politics.
Despite the apparent lack of consultation, Wike’s tone suggested no immediate bitterness, though political observers note that such a move — without reaching out to a close ally — carries significant implications for their political alliance going forward.
As Nigeria’s 2027 political realignments continue to unfold at a rapid pace, the Wike-Amaechi dynamic remains one of the most compelling subplots to watch in the emerging opposition landscape.
