A young Nigerian man from Ebonyi State has become the subject of viral outrage across social media after being caught red-handed impersonating Dr. Chibuduom Jepheta Chigozirim, the Chief Executive Officer of Jeff Exchange, in an elaborate internet fraud scheme designed to deceive unsuspecting victims online.
The suspect allegedly created fake online profiles and accounts using the identity, name, and image of Dr. Chigozirim to solicit funds, investments, and personal information from members of the public — falsely presenting himself as the renowned fintech executive to lend credibility to his fraudulent activities.
“My identity is being used to defraud innocent people. I want the public to know that I am not behind any such messages or requests. Anyone dealing with such accounts should report immediately.” — Dr. Chibuduom Jepheta Chigozirim, CEO, Jeff Exchange.
The incident has once again spotlighted the growing menace of identity theft and online impersonation targeting prominent business figures in Nigeria. Security agencies and cyber crime units have been urged to act swiftly.
