The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the proposed construction of a Federal Housing Estate in Umuahia.
In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the APC noted that upon completion, the housing estate will significantly address the high cost of rent, which has made Umuahia one of the most expensive cities to live in. The party expressed optimism that the project will reduce the housing deficit and alleviate challenges faced by residents of the state capital.
The APC also commended the Abia State Government for partnering with the Federal Government by providing land for the project. However, it urged Governor Alex Otti to ensure that all landowners affected are adequately compensated, to avoid the frustrations experienced by citizens who donated properties in Nsulu and Ukwa.
Furthermore, the party called on Governor Otti to take a cue from the Federal Government by considering a similar housing estate in Aba to ease housing challenges in the commercial city.
The APC urged Abians to continue supporting President Tinubu’s administration, noting his goodwill in providing infrastructure, strategic federal appointments, and key institutions in the state. It called on the people to align with the Renewed Hope Agenda and support the APC in the 2027 general elections.
