APGA’s Soludo Holds Early Lead as Vote Counting Continues

AWKA – Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has taken a significant early lead in the Anambra State governorship election, according to initial results being uploaded by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

As of late Saturday, INEC’s Results Viewing Portal showed results from over 99% of polling units. A preliminary analysis indicates strong showings for Soludo in his Aguata Local Government Area stronghold and several other regions across the state.

The election, while largely peaceful, was marred by reports of voter apathy and incidents of vote-buying. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed the arrest of three individuals for allegedly offering cash for votes.

The lead places Soludo ahead of his closest rival, Senator Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Officials continue to collate results from the state’s 21 local government areas.
