Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has offered automatic employment to 30 students of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), following a tour of his refinery .
The gesture is part of Dangote’s broader commitment to tackling youth unemployment and fostering local industrial growth. While delivering a public lecture at FUTO on “Enterprise, Leadership and Service to Humanity,” Dangote pledged to construct a ₦550 million hostel and donated ₦25 million to the Student Union Government .
He encouraged students to embrace innovation, warning that importing finished products amounts to importing poverty . Drawing from China’s example, he stressed that economic development must be driven by citizens, not foreign investors .
The Dangote Refinery’s 2026 Graduate Trainee Programme, currently open to graduates under 28, reflects this commitment to developing young Nigerian talent .
