Women leaders have been charged to strengthen collaboration, mentor younger generations and build strategic networks to accelerate societal growth.
Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Prof. Ursula Ngozi Akanwa, made the call at the 2026 MOUAU International Women’s Summit held at the Senator Anyim Pius Anyim Auditorium.
Speaking on the theme, “Women as Catalysts for Institutional Growth, Community Development, Innovation, and Sustainable Development,” Prof. Akanwa highlighted women’s transformative contributions across education, governance, entrepreneurship and agriculture.
She commended the Centre for Gender, Youth and Child Development (CGYCD) for organising the timely event.
Director of CGYCD, Prof. Mabel Ifeoma Onwuka, said the summit brought together women from academia, government and traditional institutions to share experiences and explore practical solutions to societal challenges.
Chairperson Mrs. Becky Ngozi Onyekwue of Zenith Bank Plc stressed empowering women through education, mentorship and economic opportunities.
Keynote speakers Prof. Irene Ijeh and Dr. Jacinta Ogwo-Agu urged women to balance professional and family responsibilities while observing professional etiquette for outstanding success.
The summit featured panel discussions on women empowerment, leadership and community development, fostering partnerships for inclusive growth.
