The Kano State Police Command has carried out a large-scale security operation across criminal hideouts and identified black spots, resulting in the arrest of 193 suspects.
The coordinated raids, conducted between April 10 and 12 in Kano, formed part of intensified efforts to combat thuggery, robbery, and illicit drug activities in the state.
According to police authorities, all 11 area commanders led simultaneous operations targeting high-risk locations, ensuring widespread coverage and effectiveness. The operation is part of ongoing strategies to strengthen internal security and curb criminal activities.
During the exercise, security operatives reportedly recovered a range of dangerous weapons and illicit substances. Items seized include 51 cutlasses, 15 knives, 41 clubs, as well as suspected Indian hemp and controlled pharmaceutical tablets.
The police command stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the level of involvement of the suspects and to ensure that those found culpable are prosecuted accordingly.
Authorities also reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining patrols, surveillance, and intelligence-driven operations across the state.
They urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities in their communities.
Security analysts say the operation reflects a renewed push by law enforcement to tackle urban crime and maintain public safety in Kano and its environs.
