Kingibe Denies Access to Suspension Report Against Akpoti-Uduaghan

Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory, has revealed she never saw the committee report that recommended the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Kingibe explained she was attending a tax reform retreat when the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions considered the report. She signed the attendance register but left for what she considered more pressing constituent business.

“I even complained to Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe that I had not seen that report. I didn’t see it then. I have not seen it till now,” she stated.

Her disclosure adds fresh controversy to the six-month suspension, already criticized by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele as one of the 10th Senate’s lowest moments. Earlier, Senator Adams Oshiomhole alleged that at least three senators’ signatures were forged or improperly included in the report.

Kingibe’s admission suggests not all committee members reviewed the document before disciplinary action was taken, raising questions about due process and legislative oversight in the Akpoti-Uduaghan affair.
