Security operatives have arrested a suspected member of a Lagos-based robbery gang during an armed attack operation in Ogun State, authorities confirmed.
The suspect was apprehended as law enforcement responded to the attack, which targeted residents in an Ogun community. Investigators believe the gang operates across state boundaries, launching raids from Lagos bases into neighbouring Ogun territories.
Police sources indicated the arrest followed intensified joint operations between Lagos and Ogun commands aimed at dismantling inter-state criminal networks that have exploited jurisdictional gaps to evade capture.
The suspect is currently in custody and assisting investigators with information on gang structure, accomplices, and previous operations. Authorities say additional arrests are expected as the dragnet expands.
The development highlights growing concerns over mobile criminal gangs operating across South-West Nigeria, prompting renewed calls for enhanced inter-state police coordination and intelligence sharing.
Residents have been urged to report suspicious movements and avoid confronting armed groups, as security forces pursue remaining gang members.
