Abia Police Arrest Two Suspects for Illegal Firearm Possession

The Abia State Police Command has arrested two individuals for illegal possession of firearms in a renewed security operation across the state.

The suspects were apprehended during routine patrols and intelligence-led enforcement targeting unlawful arms circulation. Details of the recovered weapons and specific arrest locations were not immediately disclosed by authorities.

The arrests form part of broader efforts to stem rising criminal activity and restore public confidence in the South-East region, where separatist agitation and armed violence have strained security infrastructure in recent years.

Commissioner of Police has vowed sustained operations to disarm non-state actors and prevent escalation of communal tensions. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with security agencies and report suspicious arms dealings.

The suspects remain in custody pending investigation and prosecution.
