FG Completes South Africa Evacuation as Final Flight Brings Home 308 Nigerians

The Federal Government has successfully evacuated 308 Nigerians from South Africa in the final phase of its repatriation exercise, bringing an end to the emergency evacuation programme.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that the returnees arrived in Nigeria aboard the last evacuation flight coordinated by the Federal Government in collaboration with relevant agencies and partners.

Officials said the evacuation exercise was organized to ensure the safe return of Nigerians who had indicated a willingness to come home. The returnees were received by government officials and are expected to undergo the necessary arrival procedures and receive appropriate support.

The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of Nigerians abroad, noting that the safety and well-being of citizens remain a priority during emergencies requiring evacuation.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the successful completion of the exercise concludes the government’s coordinated efforts to repatriate affected Nigerians from South Africa. Authorities also commended the agencies and stakeholders involved in facilitating the operation.

The government encouraged Nigerians living abroad to remain law-abiding and to maintain regular contact with Nigerian diplomatic missions for assistance whenever necessary.
