Russia Warns US Against More Arms Deliveries to Ukraine After Lavrov-Rubio Meeting

MANILA, Philippines — Russia has warned the United States against continuing military assistance to Ukraine, describing further arms deliveries as “unacceptable” during talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

According to CDA News Nigeria, the meeting took place on the sidelines of an Asian summit in Manila, where Lavrov reiterated Moscow’s opposition to continued Western military support for Kyiv.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said Lavrov stressed that supplying more weapons to Ukraine would only prolong the conflict. He also criticised European countries, accusing them of pursuing policies aimed at inflicting what Russia described as a “strategic defeat” on Moscow.

“It was unacceptable to continue supplying weapons to the Kyiv regime,” the Russian Foreign Ministry quoted Lavrov as telling Rubio during their meeting.

The discussions come as fighting in Ukraine continues and diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remain stalled. While Washington and its allies have maintained military support for Kyiv, Russia has repeatedly argued that such assistance escalates tensions and delays prospects for a negotiated settlement.
