The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Sokoto, Ajiya, has called on security agencies to intensify military operations against bandits and other criminal groups terrorising communities across the North-West.
CDA News Nigeria reports that Ajiya said a more coordinated and sustained offensive is necessary to restore peace, protect lives and property, and allow displaced residents to return to their communities.
According to him, the activities of armed bandits have continued to threaten economic activities, farming, and the overall security of Sokoto State and neighbouring areas. He urged the Federal Government to provide the military and other security agencies with the necessary logistics, intelligence, and operational support to decisively confront the criminals.
Ajiya stressed that defeating banditry requires strong collaboration among the military, police, intelligence agencies, traditional rulers and local communities. He also appealed to residents to support security agencies by providing credible information that could help prevent attacks and arrest criminal elements.
The APC chieftain expressed confidence that with sustained operations and improved intelligence gathering, security forces would be able to dismantle criminal networks and restore lasting peace in the region.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the call comes amid renewed concerns over insecurity and persistent bandit attacks in parts of Northern Nigeria.
