WASHINGTON, D.C., United States — The United States House of Representatives has passed a record $1.15 trillion defence spending bill, approving funding for military operations and broader national security priorities, including resources linked to the conflict involving Iran.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the legislation authorises increased defence spending for the Pentagon, military readiness, weapons procurement, and support for ongoing US operations abroad. Lawmakers backing the measure argued that the funding is necessary to address growing global security threats and maintain America’s military capabilities.
The bill also reflects Washington’s continued focus on tensions in the Middle East following recent hostilities involving Iran. However, the legislation must still secure approval in the Senate before it can be sent to President Donald Trump for his signature.
Supporters of the measure said the funding would strengthen US national security, enhance military readiness, and ensure the armed forces remain prepared to respond to emerging global threats.
The Senate is expected to debate the legislation in the coming weeks. Any differences between the House and Senate versions must be resolved before the final bill becomes law.
