Nigerian Bar Association Questions EFCC Over Alleged Osun Account Freeze

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has reportedly criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following reports alleging that bank accounts linked to the Osun State Government were frozen, a development that has generated widespread debate.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the controversy has sparked reactions from legal experts, political stakeholders, and members of the public, with concerns raised over the legality and implications of any action affecting government funds.

CDA News gathered from the report that the NBA maintained that any restriction on public funds must comply with constitutional provisions and due process, urging transparency and adherence to the rule of law.

However, as of the time of filing this report, the EFCC has not officially confirmed freezing the Osun State Government’s accounts. Previous allegations involving account freezes in Osun were publicly denied by the commission, which described such reports as false. The current claims remain unverified.

The controversy has continued to attract public attention, with calls for clarification from the relevant authorities to prevent misinformation and maintain public confidence in the country’s anti-corruption institutions.

CDA News Nigeria will continue to monitor the situation and provide verified updates as official statements become available.
