18 States Under EFCC Probe for Alleged Mismanagement of Public Funds

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disclosed that **18 states** are currently under investigation over alleged mismanagement of public funds, as part of its ongoing anti-corruption campaign.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the anti-graft agency said the investigations are aimed at ensuring accountability in the management of public resources and promoting transparency in governance across the country.

CDA News gathered from the report that the EFCC stated the investigations cover allegations of financial mismanagement, diversion of public funds, and other suspected economic and financial crimes. The commission, however, noted that investigations are ongoing and no conclusions have been reached regarding the allegations.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to conducting professional and impartial investigations while ensuring that all affected parties are accorded fair hearing in accordance with the law.

The EFCC also urged public office holders to uphold transparency and accountability in the management of government resources, stressing that prudent financial management remains essential to national development.

The development comes amid intensified efforts by anti-corruption agencies to strengthen oversight of public finances and ensure compliance with financial regulations across all levels of government.
