Supporters of Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, popularly known as **“Ikukuoma Abia,”** say his legislative experience and record in Abia State make him the right choice for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election.
CDA News Nigeria reports that Orji, who served as the 11th Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly from 2019 to 2023, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest the House of Representatives seat.
CDA News gathered that supporters are highlighting his experience in lawmaking and institutional reforms as key reasons for backing his candidacy. They argue that his previous leadership of the state legislature gives him valuable experience for effective federal representation.
Among the legislative achievements associated with his tenure as Speaker was the strengthening of the autonomy of the state legislature through the Abia State House of Assembly Service Commission Law.
Supporters also point to legislation aimed at protecting vulnerable people, including the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law.
Another initiative highlighted by his supporters is the Abia State Female Right of Inheritance of Property Law, which sought to strengthen women’s rights to inherit property.
The supporters believe these legislative efforts demonstrate Orji’s interest in governance, institutional development and social protection.
As political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum, the contest for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency is expected to attract significant attention.
