INEC Begins Uploading Results as Adeleke Wins First Polling Units

OSOGBO — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the upload of results from Saturday’s Osun State governorship election to its Result Viewing (IReV) portal. By 5:27 pm, 37 per cent of the results from the 3,763 polling units had been uploaded, fulfilling the commission’s earlier promise to enhance transparency .

CDA News Nigeria gathered that the election featured 15 political parties, following the last-minute inclusion of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Dr. Francis Ajala, by a Federal High Court order . While two candidates withdrew—Adesina Adeyemi-Doro (APGA) endorsing the APC, and Simon Adewale (APM) backing Governor Ademola Adeleke—both parties remained on the ballot.

CDA News Nigeria reports that early results indicate a strong start for the Accord Party. Governor Adeleke won his first polling unit (PU 026, Ward 5, Osogbo) with 57 votes against the APC’s 43 votes . Another result from PU 13, Ward 4, Osogbo, showed the Accord Party leading the APC by 134 votes to 75 . The Accord Party also won the polling unit of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, despite his endorsement of the APC candidate .

The election, however, was marred by reports of intimidation, vote-buying, and technical challenges, including issues with the BVAS machines . The collation of results is ongoing at the local government level, with the commission expected to officially declare the winner once the process is concluded .
