Davido Alleges FG Wants to Withdraw Security From Osun Election

OSOGBO — Afrobeats superstar Davido has alleged that the Federal Government is planning to withdraw security operatives from the Osun State governorship election because the Accord Party is winning.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that the singer made the allegation in a post on his verified X handle on Saturday as results from the election started trickling in. “Because we are winning. They want to withdraw the police and military! Mr President Tinubu, you are killing democracy,” he wrote.

CDA News Nigeria reports that Davido also expressed concern that some Presiding Officers were insisting on inputting results at the Collation Centre instead of uploading them directly to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal. He charged Accord Party supporters and voters to ensure that results are filled into the form EC8A, signed and uploaded to the IReV portal.

The election, which features 15 political parties, is keenly contested by his uncle, incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, who is seeking re-election against APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and ADC’s Najeem Salaam. Early results have shown the Accord Party winning polling units across the state. The singer has been actively campaigning for his uncle throughout the election period.
