ABUJA — The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, days after losing the August 15 election to incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the meeting was disclosed on Friday by Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, in a post on X, sharing a video of the meeting with the caption, “President Bola Tinubu meets in audience Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, the governorship candidate of the APC in the recently concluded Osun State gubernatorial elections.”
Speaking after the meeting, Oyebamiji appealed to residents of Osun State to remain peaceful, stressing that government was about the people. “It is important for us that we, Nigerians, have to know that government is about people, and it’s about people, and it’s about people. And because it’s about people, it is important that we need to be peaceful, and I want to appeal to our people in Osun that they need to be peaceful,” he said.
Oyebamiji said the APC was still examining the results before deciding on its next step. “For now, the APC is still examining the books, and by the time we spread our sheet, we’ll be able to get back to the public and listen to what our own opinion and what decisions we want to take. But the take-home is that they should be calm,” he stated.
He also urged Governor Adeleke to appeal to his supporters to avoid violence, saying such actions would ultimately hurt the people of the state. Oyebamiji also raised concern about attacks on APC members in his hometown, Ikire, on Friday morning, stating that about four or five people were attacked and that security operatives had been informed.
The meeting came a day after Adeleke had visited Tinubu at the Presidential Villa to present his Certificate of Return.
