FCT Chairman Threatens to Resist Anti-APC Voters Ahead of 2027

ABUJA — The Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, has threatened to resist residents who intend to vote against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections .

CDA News Nigeria gathered that in a video clip circulating on social media, Shekwolo said he would not allow anyone in the council to work against the APC or oppose President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid . The chairman cited the developmental projects of President Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in the area council as reasons residents should support the ruling party .

CDA News Nigeria reports that Shekwolo vowed to use his office to resist opposition to the APC during the 2027 elections, describing his administration’s achievements and the President’s efforts as enough reasons for the electorate to vote for the party . He added that no one would be allowed to “eat where they do not sow,” emphasising that residents have benefited from government projects and must reciprocate with their votes .

The threat has sparked concerns about the integrity of the electoral process and the independence of the electorate in exercising their franchise . The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier called for a peaceful atmosphere ahead of the 2027 polls, urging political actors to avoid actions that could intimidate voters .
