ABUJA — The Presidency has clarified that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council list for the 2027 election has not been withdrawn, but will be adjusted where necessary to accommodate more party members and address concerns.
Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, made this known on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily. Responding to reports that the list had been withdrawn following controversy, Dare stressed that the list remains valid but is not “cast in stone” .
“As it is with every other list, there’s a room for subcommittees. Those subcommittees have not been formed, and so many other names will come into that subcommittee,” Dare stated. When pressed on whether the list was being reviewed, he avoided the term “review,” describing the expected changes instead as “adjustments where necessary” . “Review is wholesale, this is not wholesale,” he said .
The initial list, released on August 22, named President Tinubu as chairman, Vice President Kashim Shettima as Vice-Chairman I, and former Zamfara Governor Senator Abdul’aziz Yari as Director-General . The composition triggered concern over the exclusion of key figures, including Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, and former Plateau Governor Simon Lalong, among others .
Former Minister Solomon Dalung criticized the list, saying the inclusion of figures with unresolved corruption allegations could undermine public confidence . “They cannot throw a list of very corrupt persons to our face and then turn around to say they are going to review it,” Dalung said .
