The Sokoto State Police Command has foiled an attempted bandit attack on Tsabre community in Isa Local Government Area, recovering two rocket launchers and other items abandoned by the fleeing attackers.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the incident occurred around 1 am on Friday, when armed men reportedly invaded the village and opened sporadic gunfire, causing panic among residents.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Rufa’i, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.
He said the Divisional Police Officer in Isa mobilised tactical teams immediately after receiving a distress call. The teams included operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and the Violent Crime Response Unit, who moved to confront the attackers.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the attackers fled and abandoned the items, which police recovered after the confrontation.
The statement, as received by CDA News Nigeria, did not provide details on any casualties, arrests, or a full list of recovered items. It also did not say how many attackers were involved or what led them to flee.
Isa Local Government Area is among the areas in the state’s northeast that have faced bandit attacks, and residents have repeatedly called for stronger security in rural communities.
Police are expected to provide further details as investigation and follow-up operations continue.
