The Ogun State Police Command has said it will charge three suspects before the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court over the alleged obstruction and serious assault of police officers who were performing their lawful duties.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the announcement was made in a statement issued on Friday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi. The police said the suspects would be charged following an investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni.
The police named the suspects as Alaba Mulika (female), 51; Alawode Iyanu (male), 21; and Temitope Saliu (female), 29.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on September 29, 2026, when a police team led by ASP Akeredolu Emmanuel intercepted an unregistered Toyota Camry at Fibigbade Street, Ago-Iwoye.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that, while the vehicle was being taken to the station, a Toyota Highlander with registration number JJJ 215 JV allegedly blocked its movement at Abobi Street. A physical confrontation allegedly followed, during which INSPR Abolarinwa Wasiu and CPL Olubamiro Adeniyi were allegedly assaulted.
The police said video recordings of the incident, which later circulated on social media, formed part of the materials reviewed during the investigation.
The suspects have not been tried, and the allegations against them remain unproven in court. The statement, as received by CDA News Nigeria, did not include the suspects’ account of the incident or the specific charges.
CDA News Nigeria will update this story as more information emerges.
