Bandits Abduct Kebbi State Deputy Speaker

BIRNIN KEBBI – Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammed Samaila Bagudo.

The incident occurred on Friday night in Bagudo town, shortly after the lawmaker had finished observing prayers at a mosque. Armed with sophisticated weapons, the assailants reportedly seized him at gunpoint and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

Kebbi State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the abduction. He stated that the Police Commissioner, Bello Sani, has immediately launched a search and rescue operation.

“We have formed a strong rescue team comprising the Police, Army, and vigilantes, and they are already combing bushes and forests to rescue him unhurt,” Abubakar said.

The police have urged the public to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring residents that they are on top of the situation and remain committed to safeguarding lives and property in the state.
