Agada Warns Sowore Over Villa Campaign

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) presidential candidate, Dr Peter Agada, has warned the African Action Congress (AAC) candidate, Omoyele Sowore, and other politicians against using the Presidential Villa for campaigns.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that Agada made this known during a media parley in Abuja on Friday. He emphasized that Aso Rock is a high-security facility meant strictly for government activities, not a destination for political stunts.

Agada criticized the growing tendency of politicians to treat the Villa as an event centre. He stated that presidential candidates should demonstrate their capacity to govern by showing evidence of their existing businesses, workplaces, and residences rather than seeking access to Aso Rock.

The former Labour Party chieftain also cited the resurgence of Ebola and the country’s current security challenges as reasons the Presidential Villa should not be used for social or political gatherings.

The warning comes shortly after Sowore requested permission to launch his 2027 campaign at the Villa, a move that was heavily criticized by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
