Former Labour Party National Chairman Julius Abure has taken his fierce leadership battle to the highest judicial level, filing a Supreme Court appeal to challenge the legitimacy of the Nenadi Usman-led faction’s control of the Labour Party.
Abure, who has consistently maintained that his removal as Labour Party chairman was unlawful, unconstitutional, and orchestrated by political enemies, is now banking on the Supreme Court to deliver a definitive ruling that restores his leadership mandate.
In a bold and strategic move that has electrified Labour Party supporters across Nigeria, Abure simultaneously announced the offer of free 2027 election forms to all aspirants who wish to fly the Labour Party flag in the forthcoming general elections — a move widely interpreted as a direct mobilisation strategy to consolidate his faction’s relevance ahead of 2027.
“We are preparing for victory. Our doors are open to every Nigerian who believes in the Labour Party’s mission,” Abure declared.
Political analysts say the Supreme Court filing and the free forms announcement signal that Abure is determined to fight on two fronts simultaneously — the courtroom and the grassroots.
