The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three secondary school students during a suspected cult initiation ceremony in the state.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the students were apprehended by operatives of the command following a swift intelligence-led operation in the Ijebu-Ode area of the state. The police acted on a tip-off regarding suspicious activities in the area, leading to the raid where the students were caught in the act.
During the operation, security operatives recovered incriminating items from the scene, including cult-related regalia, charms, and a locally made pistol.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, the suspects were in the process of indoctrinating new members into the secret cult before the police swooped in on them.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the arrest highlights the growing concern over the infiltration of cultism into secondary schools. The police command has urged parents, guardians, and school authorities to collaborate in closely monitoring the activities of students to curb the menace.
The suspects are currently in custody and are providing useful information to investigators. They will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation before being charged in court.
