Court Sacks NDC Reps Candidate

Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State, has sacked Hon. Uyi Frank Omosigho as the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Oredo Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that Justice Chuka Obiozor delivered the judgment on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, in a suit instituted by Omo-Osagie Efosa against the party and other defendants. The suit challenged the declaration of Omosigho as the winner of the party’s primary election.

In his ruling, Justice Obiozor held that the evidence before the court showed that Efosa participated in the primary election, with his participation confirmed and endorsed by the returning officers and chairmen of all 12 wards in Oredo Federal Constituency. The court noted that the party leadership failed to establish that Omosigho participated in and won the primary.

The judge criticized what he described as INEC’s frustrating tendencies in pre-election cases, stating that reliance on internal party mechanisms was being used to delay aggrieved aspirants.

The court consequently ordered the party to submit Efosa’s name to INEC as its candidate for Oredo Federal Constituency.

Reacting to the judgment, Efosa described it as a victory for the rule of law, calling on other aspirants to unite ahead of the January 16, 2027, election. Meanwhile, Omosigho thanked his supporters and urged them to remain calm, expressing confidence that the Court of Appeal would deliver justice.
