Iwobi Confident Super Eagles Will Secure World Cup Spot

Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has voiced strong belief in the Nigerian national team’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

After a poor start to the qualifiers, the Super Eagles face a crucial playoff semi-final against Gabon in Morocco this November.

Reflecting on the team’s journey, Iwobi told CNN, “We’ve managed to rescue ourselves from the dead.” He emphasized the squad’s quality, stating they have the players to compete with any nation.

Iwobi highlighted the individual talent in the team, including recent African Players of the Year Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen. He admitted it would be a “shame” not to qualify but said the team is confident and ready to prove themselves.

This playoff represents Nigeria’s final chance to avoid missing a second consecutive World Cup.
