Navy Hands Over Seized Rice, Fuel To Customs In Badagry

BADAGRY – The Forward Operating Base of the Nigerian Navy in Badagry has handed over seized contraband items to the Nigeria Customs Service and the Civil Defence Corps.

The handover ceremony conducted on Wednesday saw the Navy transfer 420 bags of foreign parboiled rice to the Customs Service Seme Area Command and another 55 bags to the Western Marine Command.

Additionally, 75 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) were handed over to the Civil Defence Corps in Badagry.

Navy Captain Leye Omotayo, Commanding Officer at the Base, stated that all items were seized during recent intelligence-led operations aimed at curbing smuggling and economic crimes.

Represented by Commander Shuaib Yakubu, he pledged continued patrols and surveillance to deter smuggling within the Base’s jurisdiction.

Assistant Comptroller Ibrahim Shehu of Seme Area Command commended the Navy for the handover and its role in maintaining maritime security.
