Falana Accuses Trump Of Lying About “Christian Genocide” In Nigeria

LAGOS – Human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) has strongly criticized U.S. President Donald Trump for alleging a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria, describing the claim as false and motivated by hostility toward Africa.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Falana stated that Trump’s allegations lack evidence and misrepresent the nature of violence in Nigeria.

“My position is that Mr. Trump has lied to the whole world by alleging Christian genocide in Nigeria without any evidence to back it up,” Falana said.

The senior advocate argued that violence in conflict areas is driven by criminality and resource conflicts rather than religious motives. “The killers—be it terrorists, bandits, kidnappers—do not care about your religion,” he emphasized.

Falana advised the Nigerian government to focus on addressing internal security shortcomings rather than worrying about Trump’s threats. He suggested the US President’s posture reflects broader geopolitical interests in Africa’s resources.
