Defending champions Argentina have reportedly submitted a special request to FIFA seeking permission to wear their all-blue away kit instead of their traditional blue-and-white striped jersey in their 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-final against England.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the request was reported by Argentine journalist Gastón Edul, who disclosed that the Albiceleste prefers to play the high-profile encounter in their all-blue strip.
Argentina booked their place in the semi-finals after defeating Switzerland 3-1, while England secured a 2-1 victory over Norway to set up one of the tournament’s biggest fixtures.
The South American giants have worn their famous blue-and-white striped jersey in five of their six matches at the tournament. Their only appearance in the all-blue kit came during the group-stage match against Jordan.
Although FIFA has not officially confirmed whether the request has been approved, kit selections for World Cup matches are usually determined in line with the governing body’s regulations to ensure a clear distinction between both teams’ uniforms.
CDA News Nigeria reports that football fans around the world are eagerly awaiting the semi-final showdown, with both Argentina and England aiming to secure a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
The winner of the encounter will advance to the final to face the victor of the other semi-final between France and Spain.
