KATSINA, NIGERIA – Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have arrested a woman for allegedly stealing goods valued at over N10 million from a shop in the state capital.
The suspect was apprehended following a complaint by the shop owner, who reported the theft of assorted goods including textiles, food items, and other valuables. Police investigations revealed that the suspect had been operating under the guise of a regular customer before allegedly gaining access to the store and carting away the items.
Police spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect is in custody and that efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen goods.
“The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigations,” Sadiq said.
The arrest has drawn attention to rising cases of theft targeting small-scale businesses in the state. Shop owners have called for increased security patrols and the installation of surveillance cameras in commercial areas.
The Katsina State Police Command assured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging traders to secure their premises and report suspicious activities promptly.
