President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) has recorded a stunning landslide victory in the APC Presidential Primary Election in Abia State, sweeping all 17 local government areas in a massive show of grassroots support that has electrified the state’s APC faithful ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Announcing the result at the APC Secretariat in Umuahia, the APC Presidential Election Returning Officer for Abia State and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, declared President Tinubu the winner after polling a commanding 161,005 votes across the 17 local government areas of the state. His only challenger, Stanley Osifo, scored just 1,007 votes. “At the end of the voting exercise, aspirant Stanley Osifo scored 1,007 votes, while President Bola Ahmed Tinubu scored 161,005 votes in Abia State,” Kalu declared.
A total of 162,084 voters were accredited for the exercise, with 162,012 valid votes cast across all wards in the state, reflecting an exceptional turnout that party leaders described as a historic display of APC strength in Abia.
A breakdown of the results showed that President Tinubu dominated all local government areas, recording some of his highest figures in Bende with 39,826 votes, Umuahia North with 14,943 votes, Isiala Ngwa North with 11,298 votes, and Ikwuano with 8,902 votes — the same Ikwuano where APC Abia Central Senatorial flagbearer Rt. Hon. Emeka Atuma had earlier led over 6,000 APC members to the polls in a breathtaking display of grassroots mobilisation.
Deputy Speaker Kalu thanked security agencies and party members for ensuring that the exercise was peacefully conducted, describing the outcome as a resounding reaffirmation of Abia APC’s confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Abia results contribute to President Tinubu’s nationwide landslide, with the President formally receiving the APC Certificate of Return and Presidential Flag at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja today, Sunday, May 24, 2026, officially launching his 2027 re-election campaign.
