Former Presidential Candidate Thanks Trump for “Courageous Intervention” on Behalf of Nigerian Christians

In a significant political endorsement, former Nigerian presidential candidate Bishop Professor Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies has publicly expressed gratitude to former U.S. President Donald Trump for his stated intention to intervene in Nigeria over the persecution of Christians.

The appreciation comes in response to Trump’s recent statement: “We’re going to do things Nigeria isn’t going to be happy about,” which many interpret as a warning of potential international action regarding the security situation in Nigeria.

In her reaction, Professor Adesanya-Davies described Trump’s voice as “that of courage, truth, and divine justice,” stating: “I sincerely thank President Donald Trump for his courageous intervention and for speaking up for millions of voiceless Nigerian Christians whose blood cries out daily from the ground.”

The former presidential candidate, who has been a long-standing advocate for Christian rights in Nigeria, characterized Trump’s attention to the crisis as a “moral and humanitarian wake-up call” to both the Nigerian government and the international community.

While acknowledging the gravity of the security situation affecting all Nigerians, Professor Adesanya-Davies emphasized the particular severity of violence against Christian communities, citing attacks by Boko Haram, Fulani militants, and other extremist groups.

She called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to view Trump’s statements as “a brotherly rebuke and a divine opportunity to make amends” rather than a threat, urging improved protection for all citizens regardless of faith or ethnicity.

The endorsement represents growing international attention on Nigeria’s security challenges, even as the Nigerian government maintains that addressing these issues remains a sovereign responsibility that doesn’t require foreign military intervention.
