ASUBEB Commissions Six State-Of-The-Art Classrooms In Memory Of Late Egesie Couple

AHUWA OBORO – The Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) has commissioned six state-of-the-art classroom blocks at Ahuwa Primary School, constructed by Elder David Egesie and Mrs. Charity Ekeoma Wogu in honor of their late parents, Mazi Ubochi Egesie and Ezinne Okwuonu Egesie.

ASUBEB Chairman, Lady Ezihe Lydia Onuoha, led the commissioning ceremony on November 18, 2025, accompanied by board members, local government officials, and community leaders who gathered to celebrate the educational development project.

In her address, Lady Onuoha commended the Egesie family for their philanthropic gesture and announced that the facility would serve dual purposes as both regular classrooms and a vocational training center.

“We acknowledge the Egesie family for this wonderful gift and pray that God continues to bless them. This facility will also function as a vocational centre, and we will sponsor ICT training for teachers from both School 1 and School 2,” the ASUBEB chairman stated.

The event was attended by Ikwuano Local Government officials, including the Supervisory Councillor for Education, Hon. Goodness John, and Education Secretary Dr. Paul Ifeanyi Udensi, who praised Governor Alex Otti’s educational reforms in Abia State.

Community leaders, including the President-General of Ahuwa Community, Chief David Egesie, and women’s leader Mrs. Ngozi Ezem, expressed appreciation for the project, describing it as unprecedented in their community.

The ceremony featured cultural performances by pupils and community members, celebrating the significant addition to educational infrastructure in the area.
