ABA – In a significant move to boost economic activity, Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has announced the imminent flag-off for the reconstruction of two major roads in Aba: Uratta Road and Old Express Road.
Governor Otti made the announcement during unannounced visits to churches in the Abayi Ariaria area on Sunday, January 25th. He stated that the projects, to be handled by reputable construction firms, would mark the near completion of his administration’s mission to fully recover the commercial city from decay.
“We have been trying to recover Aba and I think that we have recovered Aba. But there is still some work to do. So, very soon, we will flag off the reconstruction of Uratta Road and Old Express Road,” the Governor said.
Shifting to politics, Governor Otti expressed concern over the low voter turnout from Aba during elections. He charged the congregation and, by extension, all residents to actively participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
“If you do not vote, you have voted for the wrong people,” Otti emphasized, urging people to mobilize their networks to register. During the visits, he also directed the State Commissioner for Power to restore public electricity to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and its environs.
