Wike Must Go”: FCTA Workers, NLC Picket Industrial Court in Abuja

ABUJA – Chanting “Wike must go!”, workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), backed by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Monday picketed the National Industrial Court in Abuja. The protest is part of their ongoing total and indefinite strike over unresolved labour disputes with the FCT leadership.

The workers carried placards with pointed messages such as “Abuja no be Rivers”, “Pay promotion arrears”, “Enough is Enough”, and “No working tools”. The protest underscores deep-seated grievances including unpaid salaries, outstanding promotion arrears, and poor working conditions under the administration of Minister Nyesom Wike.

The NLC has declared full support for the industrial action, describing it as a justified response to the persistent violation of workers’ rights by the FCTA management. The protest at the court premises comes as Minister Wike seeks a legal injunction to halt the strike, with a ruling expected imminently.

The strike, which began earlier this month, has brought several FCTA services to a standstill. The workers have vowed to continue their action until their demands are met, signaling a prolonged face-off with the FCT minister.
