FG Vows to Strengthen School Security Following Student Rescue in Niger

The Federal Government has renewed its pledge to fortify security around the nation’s schools following the successful rescue of some students abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Papyri, Niger State.

Information Minister Mohammed Idris, leading a Federal Government delegation to Niger State Governor Umaru Bago, described the rescue as “a moment of profound relief.”

Idris credited the “tireless work of our security agencies, the swift response of the Niger State Government, and strong community cooperation” for the outcome. He stated that protecting Nigerian children and ensuring they can learn safely remains a central priority of the Tinubu administration.

“The Federal Government is committed to working closely with states to boost school security and ensure that such violations of our collective peace have no place in our country,” the Minister declared.

Governor Bago thanked the delegation and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to collaborating with the Federal Government on security matters.
