CDA News – President Donald Trump on Wednesday formally launched the “Trump Gold Card,” a new immigration initiative that allows wealthy foreigners to obtain U.S. permanent residency in exchange for a substantial financial contribution to the U.S. government.
The program, established by an executive order in September, offers an expedited pathway for individuals who pay a $1 million “gift” to the Department of Commerce, plus a non-refundable $15,000 processing fee. Corporations can sponsor an employee for a $2 million contribution. Upon successful background checks, applicants can receive lawful permanent resident status through existing EB-1 or EB-2 visa categories.
Key Details of the Program:
· For Individuals: $1 million contribution + $15,000 fee.
· For Businesses: $2 million to sponsor an employee.
· Process: Involves application, DHS vetting, and final approval.
· Family Members: New information indicates each dependent (spouse, child under 21) is also subject to the $1 million donation and $15,000 fee.
· New “Platinum” Tier: A future “Trump Platinum Card” for a $5 million contribution would allow holders to spend up to 270 days per year in the U.S. without being subject to U.S. tax on foreign income.
President Trump promoted the program as a way to attract “productive” people and investment, stating it would “sell like crazy” and is a “bargain”. The official application website, trumpcard.gov, went live on Wednesday.
The launch comes alongside a broader administration crackdown on other immigration avenues, including higher fees for work visas and increased deportations.
