Otti’s Aide Sues Opposition Member for N500m Over Facebook Post

Abia State Governor Alex Otti’s Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, has slammed a N500 million defamation lawsuit against opposition figure Chinonye Mba over a Facebook publication.

The case, filed at the Abia State High Court in Abiriba, alleges that Mba’s October 26 post titled “How Governor Alex Otti’s CPS Plotted to Have Me Incarcerated” was false, malicious, and damaging to Ukoha’s reputation.

Ukoha claims the post—shared widely on social media—was designed to tarnish his public standing. He is seeking N500 million in damages and a perpetual injunction to stop Mba from further publishing the statements.

Mba, currently outside Abia, recently posted about his wife’s release, stating: “My wife has been released and safely home. Thanks to everyone who helped facilitate this.” No direct link has been confirmed between that incident and the lawsuit.

The case highlights growing tensions between Abia’s ruling party and opposition voices online.
